Someofmyfondestchildhoodmemoriesinvolvesnowballfights.Growingupinasnowyclimate,mysiblingsandIwouldspendhoursoutsideinthewinter,buildingfortsandthrowingsnowballsateachother.Itwasagreatwaytobondwithmysiblingsandfriends,anditkeptusactiveevenonthecoldestofdays.
Evenasanadult,Istilllovegettinginonagoodsnowballfight.There'ssomethingabouttherushofadrenalineyougetwhenyou'redodgingincomingsnowballsortryingtocatchsomeoneoffguardwithyourown.Plus,it'sagreatworkout–allthatrunninganddodgingandthrowingreallygetsyourheartpumping.

Snowballfightsaren'tjustafunactivitytodowithfriendsandfamily–theycanalsobringcommunitiestogether.Irememberonewinterwhenahugesnowstormhitourneighborhood.Schoolswereclosed,peoplewerestuckintheirhomes,andeverythingseemedtogrindtoahalt.Butthensomeonehadtheideatoorganizeasnowballfightinthelocalpark.Itwasamazing–dozensofpeopleshowedup,bringingsledsandshovelsandsnacks.Wespentthewholedayoutside,playingandlaughingandforgettingaboutthesnowpocalypsearoundus.Itwasagreatreminderthateveninthebleakestoftimes,wecancometogetherandfindjoyinsomethingassimpleasasnowballfight.

Inaworldthatincreasinglyrevolvesaroundscreensandtechnology,it'smoreimportantthanevertogetoutsideandenjoythenaturalworld.Snowballfightsareagreatwaytodothat.Theygetyououtside,breathinginfreshairandfeelingthecrunchofsnowunderyourboots.Andbecausetheycanbedonewithminimalequipment(justsomewarmclothesandgloves),they'realow-barrieractivitythatalmostanyonecanenjoy.
